2024 General Assembly Session
The Maryland General Assembly adjourned Sine Die on April 8, 2024 for its 447th Session. PSSAM’s testimony reflected our mission and chosen legislative priorities of all 24 superintendents.
During the 447th Session, PSSAM’s legislative priorities focused on advancing policies that ensure student success through adequate and equitable funding, while strengthening local governance and decision-making authority for school systems. The organization emphasized the importance of recruiting, retaining, and supporting high-quality educators, alongside continued implementation and refinement of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future to fully realize its pillars. PSSAM also prioritized legislation for the social, emotional, physical health and safety of both students and staff, and advocated for a more sustainable and enhanced education revenue structure to support Maryland’s long-term educational goals.
